Was Jesus Eccentric?
“Eccentric” what a word. It means "(of a person or their behavior) unconventional and slightly strange."
Was Jesus eccentric?
And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself. Mark 3:21
He is beside himself, he is different, he is mad, he is to heavenly to be earthly good, He is eccentric.
Sounds like much of what is said concerning sons that give up all of this world’s selfish gain to follow Him.
See to be eccentric is to be not of one's own self but another. It is to be "peculiar" and in this world of today to be peculiar is to be beside yourself.
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. 1 Peter 2:9,10
Jesus said ... "I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. "He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you." John 16:12-14
See the “things to say” would not be such worldly things as the rise and fall of empires, famines, earthquakes, wars, virus, economic collapses and the like, but rather the glories of the REALM OF SONSHIP in which Jesus Himself walked.
"...He is beside himself. ..."
This realm the sons are walking in will be eccentric to any about, but in them they see the glory of the Son unfolding. No longer standing in the corner building worshiping the unknown god, but standing alone in the wilderness learning of Him who is the great I AM! Family, friends and even neighbors will but say you are strange, a peculiar person.
But the Father smiles upon you knowing soon He shall announce to all "These are my beloved sons IN whom I am well pleased!
