Hermetic 06

In awe I find the Source of my Life and the eye of me is the Light!

Quote = The Sixth Hermetic Principle: Cause and Effect

"Every Cause has its Effect; every Effect has its Cause; everything happens according to Law."

Having explored the first five Hermetic Principles—Mentalism, Correspondence, Vibration, Polarity, and Rhythm—we now arrive at one of the most empowering principles in all of Hermetic philosophy:

Cause and Effect.

This principle teaches that nothing happens by chance.

What appears to be luck, coincidence, fate, or accident often has causes that remain unseen or misunderstood.

The Hermetic sages taught that every action produces a reaction.

Every thought produces consequences.

Every choice creates a ripple.

Every cause sets an effect into motion.

Likewise, every effect we experience originates from some prior cause.

The universe operates according to law.

Whether we understand those laws or not, they continue to function.

A seed produces a tree.

A thought becomes an action.

An action becomes a habit.

A habit shapes character.

Character influences destiny.

The Sixth Principle invites us to recognize that our lives are not merely happening to us—we are constantly participating in the chain of causes and effects that shape our experience.

How Cause and Effect Works with the First Five Principles

Mentalism — The Origin of Causes

Mentalism teaches that the universe is mental in nature.

Because thoughts are creative forces, many causes begin within the mind itself.

Every invention, movement, relationship, achievement, and transformation first begins as an idea.

The quality of our thinking often becomes the quality of our actions.

Correspondence — The Reflection of Causes

Correspondence teaches that patterns repeat throughout creation.

The same principle of cause and effect operates everywhere.

In nature.

In society.

In relationships.

In spiritual growth.

The laws governing the stars are reflected in the laws governing human experience.

Vibration — The Transmission of Causes

Vibration teaches that everything is in motion.

Every thought, word, and action generates energetic consequences.

Nothing remains isolated.

Every vibration creates effects that ripple outward, influencing the larger whole.

Polarity — The Direction of Causes

Polarity teaches that life unfolds along spectrums.

The causes we create often move us toward one end of a spectrum or another.

Toward wisdom or ignorance.

Toward harmony or conflict.

Toward growth or stagnation.

Our choices influence the direction of our journey.

Rhythm — The Unfolding of Causes Through Time

Rhythm teaches that effects often emerge through cycles.

Not every cause produces an immediate result.

Seeds require time to grow.

Lessons require time to mature.

Actions often return through the rhythms and seasons of life.

What we set in motion today may not reveal its full effect until much later.

Cause and Effect — The Principle of Responsibility

This Sixth Principle brings all the previous principles into practical application.

Mentalism tells us that thoughts matter.

Correspondence shows that laws operate universally.

Vibration reveals that everything influences everything else.

Polarity shows that movement occurs along spectrums.

Rhythm reveals that outcomes unfold through cycles.

Cause and Effect teaches that every thought, word, and action participates in these processes.

The Hermetic student gradually learns to move from being unconsciously driven by circumstances to becoming a conscious creator of causes.

Instead of merely reacting to life, they begin acting with intention.

Instead of blaming chance, they seek understanding.

Instead of feeling powerless, they learn responsibility.

This principle is not about guilt.

It is about awareness.

It reminds us that every moment presents an opportunity to plant new causes that may eventually produce better effects.

Wise Words for Reflection

"The future is not something that suddenly arrives. It is being created by the causes you are setting into motion today."

The wanting to become is stagnation. The "being now" is Life!"
