The Foundation of Hermetics
Blessed by the Light of Source within all!
Quote - The First Three Principles Working Together
Today, we have explored the first three Hermetic Principles. While each stands as a profound teaching on its own, their true power emerges when they are understood together.
The First Principle, Mentalism, teaches us that the universe is fundamentally mental in nature.
"The All is Mind; The Universe is Mental."
This principle reveals that consciousness is the foundation from which all things arise. Before there can be creation, there must first be awareness. Before there can be manifestation, there must first be thought.
But if everything emerges from Mind, how does that Mind express itself throughout creation?
This brings us to the Second Principle, Correspondence.
"As Above, So Below; As Below, So Above."
Correspondence teaches us that the same universal laws and patterns repeat throughout all levels of existence. The structure of the cosmos can be found within nature. The patterns of nature can be found within humanity. The outer world often reflects the inner world.
The universe is not random. It is patterned.
Yet if these patterns exist everywhere, what connects them? What causes them to move, evolve, and interact?
This leads us to the Third Principle, Vibration.
"Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates."
Vibration reveals that everything within the universe is in constant motion. Every thought, every emotion, every atom, every star, every living thing participates in an endless dance of energy and movement.
Together, these three principles form a complete foundation:
Mentalism tells us what reality fundamentally is.
Correspondence reveals how its patterns repeat throughout creation.
Vibration explains the living force through which those patterns express themselves.
Imagine a great cosmic symphony.
Mentalism is the Composer.
Correspondence is the Musical Pattern.
Vibration is the Music Being Played.
Remove any one of these, and the whole understanding becomes incomplete.
The Hermetic student gradually begins to see that existence is not a collection of separate objects, but a living, interconnected process of consciousness, pattern, and movement.
The mind creates.
The pattern reflects.
The vibration animates.
This is why the first three principles form the cornerstone of Hermetic understanding. Every principle that follows builds upon the foundation established by these three.
Wise Words for Reflection
"When you understand that consciousness creates, patterns reveal, and vibration animates, you begin to see that the universe is not merely around you—it is expressing itself through you."
