Basic Biblical Symbolism

 Quote--->One does not need to know history to interpret the spiritual message of scripture. In fact adding historical context to scripture actually dilutes the meaning and purpose of scripture. The purpose of the Bible is to teach you about your mind and lead you into becoming the Christ. (Greater things than I you shall do)

When reading the bible symbolically you begin to recognize there are much greater depths and meanings to scripture than just a sorted pornographic history lesson. You also begin to see the symbolic patterns in scripture that you were probably unaware of when you were a "minster of the letter".

For example the carnal mind is the enemy of God. God also could not stop the iron chariots. The carnal mind and the iron chariots are similar (the same) in that they can both defy God. The temple (your mind) is also built without iron tools (thoughts of the carnal mind).

Abel : (a male)
Keeper of the sheep, Your higher consciousness, your higher mind, Keeper of the thoughts. The dawning of the moral element in our soul.

Adam : (Lower Aspect)
Our lower mind. That which is energized by desire (eve). This is the "fallen" mind. The "earthy Adam" is the lower mind or personality in its mental-body, and this is emanated by the higher mind or individuality (Prometheus) in its causal-body or immortal soul.

Blood : Spirit, Divine Life manifested

Cain : (a male)
Cain is a “first born” meaning he is your carnal mind. Tiller of the soil, thoughts of the lower mind. A symbol of the center of our personality. The “I am” feeling in the lower mind, which causes the illusion of separateness, and represents the lower self.

Children : Our thoughts are the children, offspring, product of our mind.

Daughters : Thoughts from our emotional mind. Lots Daughters (emotional thoughts) wanted to have intercourse with him. Our emotional nature wants to be one with our higher divine nature so that it may continue to propagate. Our emotional nature is of the flesh and will ultimately die. To “preserve the seed” is to try and escape death (the flesh).

A symbol of the lower affections and emotions which proceed from minds united with desires.

Earth : Symbolic of our lower (carnal) mind. It is the first stage of consciousness (there are 5 stages)

Eve or Females : Your Emotions or Your Spirit. A symbol of the emotion-nature of the soul.

"And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; and the rib, which the Lord God had taken from the man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And the man said, this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man." - GEN. 2:21-23.

And the Love-Wisdom within the soul caused a state of latency to overtake the mind (man), so that it was for a time unable to carry on its activities. And on the mind plane, one of the higher sub-planes (rib) was specifically selected in accordance with the Divine scheme, as the abode of the higher soul related to buddhi, and thereon was the emotion-nature (woman) evolved; and this new factor was brought into relation with the lower mind. And the mind acknowledges the better half of itself to be now of its own substance, and recognizes in mind-emotion that which is apparently dual within the mind itself.

Isaac : (a male)
Isaac is the “second born” meaning he is your higher mind.
Abraham , Isaac , and Jacob are a reflection of the trinity on the lower plane. Abraham – Father (God)
Isaac – Holy Ghost (Spirit)
Ishmael – Son (flesh)

Ishmael : (a male)
Your carnal mind. When we are born the carnal mind develops first. Later (the second born) is our spiritual mind. There is not a single bible story where the first born (carnal mind) has favor with God.

Male : Your mind

Male-Female : The sex principle symbolizes the dual aspects of the manifestation.

When the bible says not to let women speak in church it means not to let your emotions (female) tell your mind (church) what to do. Don’t let Eve drive your desire for fruit of the flesh. The temple, church, your mind, is not built with hands or tools of Iron (lower thoughts).

Sons : Our thoughts from the lower or higher consciousness (mind). A son denotes truth and good in the understanding and thence in the thought; a daughter denotes truth and good in the will and thence in the affections.

North : Represents the Spiritual. The Holy Spirit descended upon him. Things coming down or from the north are always in reference to spirit, God, higher nature. In the bible nothing bad ever comes from the north.

South : Represents the Emotional

East : Represents the Intellectual

West : Represents the Physical (flesh). Nothing Good ever comes from the west in the bible.

Water : Truth

WATER (HIGHER ASPECT) :
The great symbol of Truth or the eternal Reality and source of all manifestation. Water suggests unity, absence of parts, comprehensiveness, purity, motion; also disappearance in evaporation below, and outpouring from above in rain to fertilise the earth.

“And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.” Genesis 2:5

WATER (LOWER ASPECT) :
A symbol of the astral plane in which are errors and illusions. The inverted or distorted reflections of truths.

"And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear : and it was so." - GEN. 1:9.

WATER TURNED TO WINE
It is the changing from our lower mental perspective into the higher spiritual condition of soul. It is the realization of truth (water) that brings us enlightenment (wine). It is also symbolized in the baptism of water. When Jesus submitted to the water (truth) the Holy Spirit (wine) entered him.

WELL (OF WATER) :
A symbol of the Divine fount of Truth (water). The woman at the well is our spirit seeking divine truth or Christ.

Wine : A symbol of wisdom, or spiritual life and truth, which when partaken of by the soul, intoxicates or paralyses the lower nature, but brings joy and satisfaction to the higher.

WINE (NEW / OLD)
When we discover a new or greater truth of the spirit then we have grown or evolved and can no longer fit in our old skin. We can no longer think behave or act the way we did because the new wine (wisdom, knowledge, spirit) has changed us.

The way we think today (old or current wine skin) will not accept new wine (wisdom, truth). We must constantly be shedding our skin (old ways) so that we may grow, not unlike a butterfly or snake. They cannot grow or evolve in their old skin, they must change, they must shed their skin to evolve.
