God's hand not mans

Act 7:23 ——>And when he (Moses) was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel.



Lets look at 40 ——> The number 40 represents change or transition; the concept of renewal; a new beginning.

It also seems that God put into Moses heart the call of him to one day led the children of God out of Egypt.



By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. Hebrews 11:24-26

And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed, and smote the Egyptian: For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not. Act 7:24,25



Though Moses knew in his heart that God was to use him, his action and motive was not as God’s but his own. For Moses defended one of his own by killing the Egyptian.

See Moses thought as a man and did the actions of a man thinking (supposed) his brethren would see God was using Moses as his delivering hand.

The heart of man might be in the right place; but is the heart of man the hand of man doing the actions of God or is the heart of man in the hand of God?

And the next day he shewed himself unto them as they strove, and would have set them at one again, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren; why do ye wrong one to another? But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us? Act 7:26,27

Here we can see the kettle calling the pot black.

Moses the day before kills an Egyptian that is doing wrong and in killing him he thinks his action is the hand of God.

Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

 

Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye?

 

You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. Matthew 7:3-5



The action of Moses was no different than the brethren that were striving one against another.

 For the actions of Moses only set him up as “….ruler and a judge” rather than a servant of God’s hand.

Wilt thou kill me, as thou diddest the Egyptian yesterday? Act 7:28

For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. James 1:20

 

The very one Moses saved from the Egyptian is the one that wronged his own neighbour and this is the one that pushed away Moses with the rebuke “…. Who made thee a ruler and a judge OVER us?

But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.

But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.

 

For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. Matthew 10:42-45

Then fled Moses at this saying, and was a stranger in the land of Madian, where he begat two sons.

And when forty years were expired, .… Act 7:29,30


Though Moses was a stranger in the land of Madian we need to wonder if Moses was not being redeemed from the “contention and strife” that existed in his heart as it does in hearts of man.



See the word Madian means "contention: strife"

For we see that 40 years expired* (level up) and Moses is to learn the truth of God’s calling for his life!



Now 40 represents a full level of understanding when a person transitions from one level of wisdom to the next. And we see now that Moses is in the “…wilderness of Mount Sina” (Act 7:30)

In the “…wilderness of Mount Sina” Moses stands as a man next to the light that is to change him and bring him forth as the servant of God.


“…. there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a bush.

When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold it, the voice of the Lord came unto him, Saying, I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold. Act 7:30-32



The “flame of fire” is a Light that will make all to wonder. However Moses not only wondered he drew near to behold it and there Moses heard the voice of God!



Many love just to wonder after the “flame of fire” they sit in the grove of the day of Pentecost and want that to come again.

Yet. God has much more for his children if they just draw near to Him, for it is in the holy place one shall see the glory of God.



Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

 

By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 

 

And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 

 

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Hebrews 10:19-25

Moses trembled and did not dare to look. However, God said unto him, “…Put off thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest is holy ground.” Act 7:33

To many they may see the holy ground, to God he sees the ways of man not fit to stand on holy ground.

“….Put off thy shoes….”

The shoes of man represent the ways of man and the one who removes his shoes for the Lord are they that humble themselves to do the will and works of Him.

“….And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;…” Ephesians 6:15

And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! Romans 10:15



The wilderness life Moses was in was a time of preparation for him to be used of the Lord.

I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.

This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush. Act 7:34, 35

“I have seen, I have seen …..” 

 

Do we see it children of God? Do we hear what we see? God has seen “the affliction of His people….” He has not a blind eye as many think and say but God does see the affliction of His people and not only does He see “I have heard their groaning ….”

Many times our mind our human emotions can distract us from the truth that God sees and He hears our groaning in this Egypt we are in.

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16

Moses in the land of Egypt did not show forth mercy and grace when he took matters in his own hand and killed the Egyptian.



Now in the presences of God, Moses is seeing and learning what it means to “…. obtain mercy, and find grace…”

For it is God who shall go forth and deliver his people from Egypt by sending the prepared one!



Moses in his own condemnation is reminded of the words of the one he saved in his own strength is now the one who is sent by the very hand of God!



The power and might of the hand of God in action “….He brought them out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.” Act 7:36

How today the hand of God is at work within His body to will and do of His pleasure knowing what is needed to bring His body “…. to the mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ ….” Ephesians 4:13
