Living God
Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you. I
make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and
fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast
for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his
dominion shall be even unto the end. He
delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and
in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions. So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian. Daniel 6:25-28
delivereth: To leave, to let go (Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Hebrews 11:33)
rescueth: To disentangle; hence to free from difficulties or one's lack of trust in God. (And
that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men
have not faith. But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and
keep you from evil. 2 Thessalonians 3:2,3)
power:
A hand, the open one (To open their eyes, and to turn them from
darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may
receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are
sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26:18; Who hath delivered us
from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of
his dear Son: Colossians 1:13)
lion:
(Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring
lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 peter 5:8)
God
could have prevented Daniel from being thrown into the lion's den ...
But He chose to let Daniel be put in with the lions, that the faith of
Daniel may be seen and heard of by all men as he proclaimed, "My God
shall rescue me from the hand of the evil one."
God
shut the mouths of the lions so that no harm came Daniel's way. Through
this difficulty of Daniel's, God was glorified in so much that the king
declared that Daniel serves a 'living God,' whose kingdom and power is
here today, tomorrow, and for ever more available to them who put their
faith and trust in our God.
